We met at 10.30  to discuss with Kami the things we had talked and discussed the day before. After the meeting we had a coffee or two and  came to the conclusion that we wanted to look at other surroundings that we find inspiring. We wanted to look at some buildings in Lundand konsthögskolan in Malmö

Today we met at the wall to be composed into groups. We had to be atleast two different programs and at the most five people. When we had formed our groups we started to create our own assignment. We are to meet Kami everyday to tell him what we have done and then discuss how to proceed. We brainstormed for quite some time and then chose that we wanted to put the emphasis on our environment around school. We all found that it was not very inspiring to us and we wanted to change it. To find more inspiration and to just have a look around we went to IKEA.

Friday 15/9

September 25, 2006 at 6:29 pm (KKD2)

All the groups had their coreogragpies ready and printed on paper. It was the most fun I’ve had all this course. It was so nice and experimental. The different groups had so many different ideas. Blowing ballons, saying hello and smiling to everyone we met and playing our mobile ringtones. A really swell day all in all that ended with a big dinner for all MVD students.

Thursday 14/9

September 25, 2006 at 6:05 pm (KKD2)

We met in the auditorium for a lecture on performances and stuff by uglycute and then headed out to town for a little something called a “slow walk”. We had to walk a distance of maybe a 100m in 30 minutes. During this we had to be quiet but were allowed to read the newspaper or listen to music. I listened to a book I had on my mp3 player. All during the time we did our “slow walk”, we were asked if we were part of a demonstration and just a bunch of other things people just assumed.

It was a real blast!!!

After the slow walk we were given groups and then a route on which to make our own coreographed walk with the rest of the hundred or so students in the course. We started walking back and forth and discussing ideas. Finally we came to a conclusion, maybe not the most fun one and decided to meet in the morning.

Thursday 7/9 New beginnings

September 11, 2006 at 1:53 pm (KKD2, Uncategorized)

This lecture was interesting but still had a hard time remaining concentrated…… Every day that passes makes it more and more difficult to find the energy to want to continue. But I know that I have to. I had a hard time finding the meaning of their projects and how they got hired for realising their ideas……
But what do I know…… After the lecture I went to the page on webzone to see if the list about our course litterature, but was unable to find it. I feel that the terrible lectures that seem to have been prepared for about 5 minutes, need some books that you can turn to for inspiration. Or at least som films or ducumentaries. Another thing that affects my thoughts about this course is that the original schedule says we are going between 9-16 or even 18, and when we sometimes have as little as 45 minutes instead it makes you wonder. It takes longer than that to travel to and from school………..

Tuesday 5/9 The Inspa-roll

September 5, 2006 at 3:33 pm (KKD2)

Today I kept working on the assignment we recieved yesterday. My brain has been working non stop since last afternoon, trying to think of a genuine and new idea. It proved harder than I thought in the beginning and I found myself throung many (not so good ideas but still) in the bin. Finally i thought of something in the gym and went straight home to make my model. We’ll see what the others think tomorrow, now

Monday 4/9 UGLYCUTE

September 4, 2006 at 6:50 pm (KKD2, Uncategorized)

Today the lecture was about objects called uglycute. Their ideas were simple and about criticising the general idea that some things are more beautiful than others. They work through workshops and different exhibitions throughout the world. Their main concept is to use simple materials in minimalistic designs. I thought it it to be a very clever idea even though it didn’t really match my own opinion about what is interesting. I like when things have clever little things to them and are colourful instead of being as simple as possible. i definitely agree on their opinion of criticising the common thoughts about good and bad design.

We we’re also asked to join then in a workshop and create something low-tech, surprising and helpful in our future profession. I was surprised to find that we only had an hour of lectures and would like to see more hours put into this or at least to be given something to read for inspiration. Some new titles to discover. But all in all it’s been a good day and the lecture was a good one. I look forward to seeing the different ideas tomorrow.
